It’s plain sailing for Riverside College holistic students whose dreams to work on a cruise ship have come true.

Over 100 people applied to work on Steina cruise ships salons with only 30 jobs available, seven of those chosen were Riverside College students - Nadine Zarrugh, Lauren Maher, Natalie Ireland, Callie Gilbert, Laura Southern, Sarah Marsh and Emily Billington.

The students faced a grueling day at the Jurys in Hotel in Liverpool, being interviewed, assessed and trade tested before being told they had the job.

Between August and November, the girls will be travelling to London to enrol with Steina Cruise Ship Academy were they will spend 3-5 weeks training before flying out to various destinations around the work to begin work on a ship.

Former Fairfield High School student Callli Gilbert from Widnes said, “We all found the assessment day very hard, but it was worthwhile. We’re all really looking forward to working on a cruise line as it’s something we’ve always wanted to do. We still can’t believe it’s happening.”

Team Leader for Holistic Therapy at Riverside College Sarah Filaudeau said; “I am very proud of all the girls they showed excellent professionalism at their interviews with Steiner. Over the past two years they developed into an excellent practitioners, and have a natural ability to help other people on their journey of health and discovery. They have truly been a pleasure to teach.”
