Model Publication Scheme
The Freedom of Information Act was introduced in 2000, with the aim of promoting greater openness and accountability in the public sector. It was anticipated that this would be achieved by requiring all 'public authorities', including further education colleges, to make information available through a publication scheme.
The information provided under Riverside College Halton's publication scheme falls into the following categories:
- Who we are and what do we do?
- What we spend and how we spend it?
- What are our priorities and how are we doing?
- How we make decisions
- Our policies and procedures
- Lists and registers
- The services we offer
The scheme also sets out the format in which information will be provided to enquirers (ie electronically or on paper), how the information can be accessed and whether or not charges will be made for the provision of the information.
