What is this course about?
An introduction to Sociology, Psychology and Criminology for the absolute beginner.
What will I learn on this course?
How to structure and write an essay, research and summarise information, be confident in speaking and listening and read and report on statistics over the years.
External speakers may be invited into classes and trips arranged to a variety of venues.

You will look at the outlines of some of the arguments that are relevant today and how these have developed over the centuries, so that particular ideas and arguments can be ‘placed’ in a historical and mental context.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed with your progress throughout the course and Functional Skills exams in English will be sat
What are the Entry Requirements?
You will be asked to complete a short assessment to work out which level you are currently working at in English. You need to be working at Level 1 and not have achieved Functional Skills English at Level 2 in the past 5 years.
Are there any costs associated with this course?
No the course is free, however, we do recommend that you buy a copy of the Functional Skills workbook at the appropriate level.
