What is this course about?
The Certificate in Women’s Hairdressing is a substantial vocational qualification to prepare you for a career in the hairdressing industry. It is delivered on Monday evenings over 31 weeks and will require home study to complete assignments and projects. The course will develop your practical skills in all technical elements of hairdressing. You will watch demonstrations by our experienced tutors and eventually progress to working in our College salons on clients.

You will require GCSE A* – D in English and maths / Level 1 Qualification in English and maths OR be working at L1 in English and maths on our assessment.
What will I learn on this course?

- The art of dressing long hair
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed throughout your course by practical observation and your theoretical understanding will be assessed through the completion of assignments and tests. You will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence which will require photographic evidence.
*Please note: You may be required to attend an assessment day/evening if you are selected by the awarding body, external verifier – failure to attend could lead to your certificate being withheld until you are seen be the external verifier

You will need a college black tunic (approx. cost: £25.00), black trousers, black low heeled shoes and a professional hairdressing kit which includes a practice block price to be confirmed for 2019. You will have to provide a lever arch file etc. for your course work and photographic evidence is required for practical assessments.
What will this course lead on to?
On successful completion of this course you can work in the hairdressing industry within a salon environment, or become self-employed. You may wish to progress onto an advanced level in hairdressing or a barbering qualification. You may consider applying for a beauty or nails qualification to add to your skills.
