In the News:
Students impress on their work placements
Level 3 Early Years student Rebecca Barnes, has completed her qualification and walked straight into a perfect job after impressing her mangers at her work placement during the course.
Rebecca, who achieved the top marks of triple distinctions in her BTEC Extended Diploma in Early Years, completed her placement at Ditton Early Years Nursery and they were so impressed with her skills, they offered her a job to start as soon as she finished College.
Students on this course spend a large portion of their course on placement, working in real life settings and gaining valuable experience, enabling them to enhance their CV’s and gain the skills employers are looking for. For students like Rebecca they are able to come away from their placement with an offer of a job.
Rebecca who is previously from Ormiston Bolingbrook Academy said, “I can’t wait to start my job, I never expected to leave College with a job intact. Without this College I wouldn’t have had a placement and without placement I wouldn’t have gotten a great job. The tutors are brilliant; I’ve always been able to ask for help when I needed it and my tutors always supported me. I’ll always look back at Riverside College with fond memories, and relive the two years all over again if I could! They have been the best two years of my life so far.”
First Aid offers students extra skills
Students studying on the Early Years courses enrich their qualification each year with extra skills such as the paediatric first aid course. This course provides the students with experience of emergency situations that they may experience when working with children and gives them the skills to deal with them. The students complete this course in college and it helps them when applying for jobs after the course.
