Government Incentive

£1,000 per apprentice
The Government will pay employers a £1,000 incentive for employing an apprentice aged 16-18 or 19-24 year olds who have left care and young adults with additional learning needs. The incentive will be paid in two instalments at the end of month three and twelve. Riverside College will be responsible for passing the money on to you the employer.

Age 16-24 Apprenticeship Grant Liverpool City Region

From £2,500 – £4,000 per apprentice

Age 16-24 Apprenticeship Grant – Employers Outside Liverpool City Region

Up to £1,500 per apprentice
The AGE 16 to 24 grant for employers aims to support businesses, who would not otherwise be in a position to do so, to recruit individuals aged 16 to 24 into employment though the apprenticeship programme.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Employers with fewer than 50 employees
  • Not enrolled a new recruit or existing employee onto an Apprenticeship programme in the previous 12 months
  • Available for up to 5 apprentices per employer + Employer must have fewer than 50 staff
  • Apprentice must be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week
  • Must have a contract of employment for a minimum of 12 months
  • Apprentice must be aged between 16-24
  • Payment issued after 13 weeks from Apprenticeship start date

If your business is located within the Linking the Locks project boundary we can provide a support package towards the cost of wages:

Eligibility Criteria

  • Apprentice must be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week
  • Must have a contract of employment for a minimum of 12 months
  • Must be paid National Minimum Wage (not Apprentice Wage)
  • Linking the Locks will reimburse the difference between National Minimum Wage and Apprentice Wage (currently £3.50 p/hour) each month upon receipt of time sheets
