Riverside College Bus Timetable Updates Mersey Gateway Bridge

Important notice for students travelling to college by bus from Runcorn, Frodsham and Helsby

The Mersey Gateway bridge will open on Saturday 14th October at midnight.
As soon as the new bridge opens, the current bridge will close and the following changes to college buses will come into effect:

BUS 41

The morning timetable will run 5 minutes earlier at each stop – please get to your stop 5 minutes earlier than normal. This bus will now pick up and drop off in the Old Town at 08.25 (this is instead of the 43A/B)

BUS 43 A&B

This timetable will run at its normal time BUT it will no longer pick up or drop off in the Old Town (students getting on/off at the Old Town should get on the 41)

Anthony’s Travel 1

The morning timetable will run 5 minutes earlier at each stop – please get to your stop 5 minutes earlier than normal

Changes to Public Transport Services from Runcorn

Travelling Over The New Bridge By Car

Travel over the new bridge is free for Halton residents BUT you must register your car to travel for free. If you do not live in Halton and will be travelling over the bridge, there will be a fee. You need to register in order to pay the toll to travel over the bridge.

Our Kingsway Campus is situated close to Widnes Town Centre near Victoria Square.

By Bus:

All bus services serving Widnes stop nearby the Kingsway campus or the nearby ASDA Supermarket.
Free Bus Pass Riverside College


At Riverside College we aim to ensure that your journey to college is a smooth one by providing you with:

  • A FREE Halton Transport bus pass worth up to £540 per year for every full time student who lives more than 1.5 miles away from the campus they are studying at. This FREE bus pass can also be used in the evenings and at weekends during term time
  • Dedicated bus services throughout the region to make your journey as easy and straightforward as possible

We have dedicated FREE college bus routes and excellent public transport links across the region coming directly to Riverside College.

Riverside College Free Bus Pass Halton Transport

By Car:

From M62

  • Exit the M62 at junction 7
  • Take the A557 following signs for Widnes
  • At the traffic lights follow signs for Widnes Town Centre
  • Take the 2nd exit at roundabout, following signs for Riverside College Kingsway.


From M56

  • Exit the M56 at junction 12
  • Take the Weston Point Expressway A557 follow signs for The Bridge
  • Take the 2nd slip road signposted Widnes, follow signs for Riverside College Kingsway.

The Kingsway Campus is a ten minute walk south along Kingsway from Widnes Station on the Liverpool to Warrington line. (For further information on train times and fares please call the National Rail Enquiry Line on 0845 748 4950.)
