What is this course about? This course will prepare you for work in an exciting career as a Beauty Therapist. You will watch demonstrations and practice new techniques from manicures to applying flawless make up. You will learn how to advise clients and make recommendations on all their beauty needs through theory sessions, which will enhance your practical skills.

Entry Requirements 16/18: A minimum of 4 GCSE’s or equivalent at grade 9 – 3 including English Language and Maths or progression from Level 1 Beauty Therapy or relevant salon experience. 19+: Interview and Level 2 English and Level 1 Maths on assessment or evidence of achieving within the last 5 years.
What will this course lead on to? Progression onto Level 3 Beauty or employment in a salon or cosmetic company.
What will I learn on this course? You will be involved in both practical & theory sessions to gain your qualification including: working in the beauty industry, health & safety, customer care & communication, salon reception, facial massage techniques, selling products and services, remove hair using waxing techniques, manicure, pedicure, nail art techniques, makeup, tanning and facial skin care for men. As part of this course you will be also required to work on English and Maths as this will increase your job opportunities or progression on to higher education
Enrichment Opportunities A wide range of enrichment opportunities are available to you including: Duke of Edinburgh Award, Driving Test Theory, workshops from major product manufactures, trips and visits to competitions and exhibitions, a wide range of industry workshops for e.g. semi-permanent eye lash training, ear piercing and Shellac nails.
How will I be assessed? You will be assessed by on-going practical assessments throughout the programme, with a final practical assessment at the end of your course. You will be tested on your theoretical understanding throughout the beauty therapy programme, with a final theory exam at the end of your course.
Are there any costs associated with this course? The course requires a full kit (approximately £125) and a Tunic top (approximately £25.00 plus postage and packing). You must also wear full length black trousers and a full black shoe. You will have to provide files for your course work and photographic evidence is required for practical assessments. There may be a subsidised cost for any trips and industry workshops. 19+: Course fee £1,275. Many of our students study for free, as depending upon your personal circumstances you may be eligible for funding. Facilities At the Centre of Excellence for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, we have recently refurbished contemporary facilities, including three hairdressing salons, three beauty salons, a nail services salon and two media make up studios. This provides students with the opportunity to run their own salons and showcase their skills to the public.
