Advanced Learner Loan
You can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of your Access to Higher Education Course. Student Finance England will ‘write off’ any outstanding Advanced Learner Loan balances you owe for an Access to HE course once you complete a higher education course. This means you do not have to repay it (conditions apply).
An Advanced Learner Loan is available to anyone over the age of 19, regardless of your individual circumstances, studying a Level 3 or 4 eligible course. (Access to Higher Education is a level 3 Course). The loan will fully cover your fees – with no repayments until you are earning £27,295 or over per year (current income threshold 2021). This is subject to review and change by the government and may be a different amount by the time your loan is due to repayment). Repayment example: if you are earning £31,000 per year you will pay approximately £27 per month).
