What is this course about?
This part time evening programme is designed to give you the skills and knowledge required to learn the art of fashion and occasion makeup services. You will work in our college makeup studio developing your skills in creative makeup techniques and eyelash and brow services.

Entry Requirements: Working at Level 1 in English on our college assessment or GCSE English D/3 or Level 1 English qualification (including reading and writing). Makeup is a personal service; people skills and personal presentation is also important.
What will this course lead on to?
Progression onto a level 2 diploma programme in beauty or makeup, employment in the makeup industry, self-employment or working for a cosmetic house.
What will I learn on this course?
Working in the beauty and makeup industry, health and safety professional practice, client care and consultation in the beauty/makeup industries, preparation of the skin, foundation matching, colour theory, application of a variety of makeup looks & provide eyelash and brow treatments.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by ongoing assessments throughout the programme, tests may be required to complete units and check knowledge, also you will have to complete projects and produce a portfolio of your work.

The course requires a kit and a tunic top (costs to be confirmed for 2023). You must also wear full length black trousers and a full black shoe. You will have to provide files etc. for your course work, and photographic evidence is required for practical assessments.

Facilities: At the Centre of Excellence for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy we have recently refurbished contemporary facilities, including four hairdressing salons, four beauty salons, a media make up studio and a nail salon. This provides students with the opportunity to run their own salon/makeup bar and showcase their skills to the public.
