What is this course about?
This course is designed to allow you to develop the higher level skills needed to progress to university or employment at a technical or professional level within the engineering industry.
The duration of this course is two years. During which you will study a variety of different engineering disciplines. You will attain a solid foundation of mathematics and science.
You will also gain experience in studying traditional engineering skills such as design and drawing for Engineering Technicians as well as modern skills such as Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and Computer Aided Design (CAD) both of which are incredibly sought after in industry.
We deliver units that allow students to understand the extraction, shaping, manipulation and finishing techniques used in industry. As well as units that allow our students to explore microprocessors, robotics, hydraulics and pneumatics.
Many students thoroughly enjoy embarking upon Engineering Projects whilst studying with us. Past student’s have linked with the local council in order to design and make green projects for the local community, design and produce prototypes of wildlife conservation equipment, enter competitions with green energy challenges, adapt existing drones for useful applications such as search and rescue or firefighting. This often results in an impressive folder that allows our students to showcase a variety of skills and attributes that often lends itself well to ‘the next step’ such as university or employment interviews.

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A* – C or numerical equivalent including a Grade 4 in English Language and Maths and a Grade C in Science.
What will this course lead on to?
The course is designed to allow students to progress to further study at university including foundation degrees, BEng, MEng or BSc. Alternatively, you could progress to employment in engineering for example as a Design Engineer or a trainee manger.
