What is this course about?
This unique course combines the health units from the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care with practical skills within a beauty therapy context. These varied learning experiences enable you to develop the health units required to progress onto health and social care pathways at university. This course will also provide you with a portfolio of non-invasive skin treatments to support your advancement into aesthetics in the future. The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care is combined with a Level 2 Award in Skincare and Facial in year 1 and Level 3 in Electrical Facial Treatments in year 2.
Why choose this course?
This is an exciting combination of health-related units blended with an emphasis on non-invasive cosmetic procedures. If you wish to become an Aesthetics Nurse, you will need to apply to university to study your nursing degree. Once you have completed your nursing degree, you can complete further training to progress onto aesthetics. Please note, a nursing degree is essential to be able to administer treatments including Botox and fillers, and you will be required to complete further training.
Entry Requirements:
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 9 – 4 including a grade 4 in English Language and maths. Students must also have a clear DBS
What will I learn on this course? The course will enable you to develop the knowledge and skills required to work in a range of health-related professions, including Anatomy and physiology, psychology, sociology and physiological disorders and Science for Health.
The additional beauty elements will give students the opportunity to learn skills including, Facial Peels, Micro current, Galvanism, High Frequency, Natural Facelift Massage, Thai Herbal and Acupressure Facial.
Students will be required to complete 150 hours of placement within a hospital setting which will enable you develop your practical and personal skills that you will need to be successful in your chosen career.

How will I be assessed?
You will complete a range of in-depth assignments or knowledge examinations within your Health & Social qualification. Your practical aesthetics training will be assessed through observation of your work. The Personal and professional development unit involves a minimum of 150 hours of placement , where you will be required to produce a portfolio of evidence
Are there any costs associated with this course? All students will require a clear DBS, a beauty kit £25.00, Tunic £25.00 (Subject to change for 2021) you must also wear full length black trousers and a full black shoe.

Facilities:
Our fantastic new 4-bed ward with simulated patients and an accessible care suite helps students to experience a real work environment. You will be able to carry out many practical elements of the course such as taking blood pressure, checking heart rates and pulse, and practice moving and handling. Students will complete skin care units within the College’s industry standard VITA beauty salons.
What can this course lead onto?
After successfully completing this course you could progress on to a BA (Hons) degree in Adult & Children’s Nursing and follow a career in the nursing profession A nursing degree and further training could lead to a career in an aesthetic environment such as an advanced skin care clinic or you may wish to consider self-employment.
