What is this course about?
This course is designed to develop your skills for a career as a nail technician/beauty therapist. The course is all about creating various nail art designs using many different techniques which are used within the nail industry.
What will I learn on this course?
On this course you will learn how to consult and communicate with your client, devise a treatment plan to suit the nails and skin condition, and apply designs to the nails. You will also learn several techniques to create many different designs, including polishing, application of gems, glitters, transfers, and techniques using tape and a striping pen.

How will I be assessed?
The qualification will be assessed through practical observation and the completion of one assignment. The course will be made up of five video tutorials and online learning for five weeks of the course , followed by three direct teaching sessions that will take place in college. You will also have a weekly progress review with your tutor(online) to ensure targets are met. Students will need to attend college the last three weeks of the course and must be available to discuss progress on the other five Thursday evenings. Students will be able to work through the tutorials in their own time
*Please note: You may be required to attend an assessment day/evening if you are selected by the awarding body, external verifier – failure to attend could lead to your certificate being withheld until you are seen be the external verifier
What are the Entry Requirements?
You must have completed a course or qualification in manicure.

Other Costs:
You must purchase a professional college nail art kit (approx. £30.00). You will need a college black tunic (approx. cost: £25.00), black trousers, and black low-heeled shoes. You will have to provide a lever arch file etc. for your course work and photographic evidence is required for practical assessments.
What will this course lead on to?
On successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress onto the level 2 award in professional nail technology. You may wish to pursue a career as a nail technician in a beauty salon, nail bar or become self-employed.
