What is this course about?
This course is ideal for anyone who wants an introduction to CAD with an insight into how CAD can integrate with advanced manufacturing techniques such as laser cutting plasma cutting, 3D Printing and CNC machines.
The course consists of Level 2 elements and is primarily a practical hands-on course. It is suited for adults with a keen interest in engineering or possibly a current role within the sector and considering a role change and is designed to help close the current skills gap with the Liverpool City Region.
Delivery will be delivered within our industry-standard workshops and classrooms. Upon completion, you will achieve an LCR-backed college certificate.

This course is ideal for a technician currently working in a different role within the engineering sector who is interested in the possibility of re-training to change their role, it is also advantageous to an individual who is interested in the engineering sector but who has no formal experience and would like a course designed to offer a taster without the need to enrol on a full-time qualification before exploring the sector.

This course is a course designed to show some of the newest engineering technologies that are in short supply across the region.
What will I learn on this course?
You will be introduced to some of the following during the short 12-week course. The course includes a practical introduction to the following topics within a 12-week practical project:
- Computer Aided Design CAD
- Laser cutting and plasma cutting in 2D
- 3D Modelling and 3D Printing
- Working safely and effectively
- Use of manual machine including lathes
- Computer Aided Manufacture CAM/CNC
How will I be assessed?
There are no exams within this course, you will be assessed during and on completion of your 12 week practical project.

This course is FREE for residents of the Liverpool City Region (Liverpool, Halton, Knowsley, St Helen’s, Sefton, Wirral), regardless of your individual circumstances.
Learners will be expected to provide their own safety footwear, overalls & eye protection.
