Construction Students Help Upgrade Barnton FC Football Ground
Construction students from Riverside College have been applying their skills to help upgrade facilities at Barnton FC’s football ground. Over a five week period, the students have helped to carry out tasks including demolition work, concreting and the construction of two new player dug outs.
The club currently play in the Cheshire Association Football League Division One and are targeting promotion to The North West Counties League. Promotion would make the club semi-professional and a ground grading inspection is required to ensure the ground meets league standard.
Since completion of the work, the inspection has been carried out; the student’s hard work has paid off and the club is delighted to announce they have successfully passed.
Ian Ross, first team manager, commented “The students were really helpful and professional. We are really grateful for the placement work they have done on reconstructing our dugouts. This was a very important part in our aim to be graded for our promotion bid to The North West Counties League”
Membership secretary Chris Appleton also commented “I’ve only recently joined the club but as a local I have noticed the improvement and the contribution of the students has been brilliant, it has been a big help to the club”
