Counselling students experience international workshop
Dr Adam Bradford, a clinical psychologist specialising in PTSD from VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System in Nevada USA, has worked with Riverside College by running a Skype workshop for students.
Dr Bradford spoke with the students about the differences in the training criteria for counsellors within the USA and the UK. He also spoke about the varied client issues he has worked with and the effective strategies he has utilised. Dr Bradford showed dedication to helping the counselling students as the Skype session started at 3am Nevada time.
All the students really enjoyed this exciting opportunity to speak with and learn from such an experienced professional practitioner.
Rosie Byrom, Counselling Degree Award Leader, added: “Our counselling degree students have really enjoyed the intellectually stimulating and varied learning activities this term. We are very thankful to Dr. Bradford who delivered a fantastic workshop directly from the USA. This was the first time we have used Skype in the classroom and it was very well received by students, we will definitely be doing it more often.“
