Course Overview/What is this course about?
This course is a specialist course and is designed to help you develop your basic knowledge and practical skills in the techniques for providing ear candling treatments.

Entry Requirements:
As this is a level 2 course you must be working at level 1 in English on our college assessment or a minimum GCSE grade 2 or hold a Level 1 English qualification (including reading and writing). You will also have a college admissions interview. This is a personal service; people skills are also important.
What will I learn on this course?
On this course you will learn the about the natural therapy of ear candling which includes:
- Client Care and Communication in the beauty related industries
- Health and Safety in the Salon Environment
- Provide Thermal Auricular Therapy
How will I learn and be assessed?
You will learn the skills required through watching tutor led demonstrations and then you will have the opportunity to practice the treatments in our industry standard salons. You will be assessed throughout your course by practical observation, and your theoretical understanding will be assessed through the completion of an assignment or tests. You will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence which includes client case studies.
*Please note: You may be required to attend an assessment day/evening if you are selected by the awarding body, external verifier – failure to attend could lead to your certificate being withheld until you are seen be the external verifier
Progression Opportunities/What can this course lead on to?
On achievement of the award in auricular therapy qualification, it can be used in salons, and clinics. wellbeing community settings or as part of a self-employed business. On successful completion of this course, you may wish to progress onto further full time or part time courses in hairdressing, beauty, nail services or makeup which the college offers.

The course requires a Hope Ear Candle kit costing £40.00, and a Tunic top £25.00. You must also wear full length black trousers and a full black shoe. You will have to provide files etc. for your course work. Full details will be provided on enrolment to the course.

Facilities:
At the Centre of Excellence for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy we have recently refurbished contemporary facilities, including three hairdressing salons, two beauty therapy treatment rooms, a nail studio and two media make up studios. This provides students with the opportunity to run their own salons and showcase their skills to the public.
