Degree Level Students Honoured at Special Graduation
On Thursday 24th October, Riverside College honoured the remarkable efforts and achievements of degree level students at the College’s annual Higher Education Graduation and Awards Ceremony.
This year’s event took place at Cronton Sixth Form College’s new Cronton Playhouse theatre and was the first graduation ceremony since Riverside College received a prestigious TEF Gold Award for the quality of their Higher Education provision.

In front of an audience of family members, friends and College staff, over 80 graduation certificates were presented on the night by the Mayor of Halton, Councillor Margaret Horabin.
Special congratulations went to Francine Russell who was awarded ‘Staffordshire University Student of the Year’ and to Thomas Hanley who collected the ‘Pearson Higher Education Student of the Year’ award.

Education graduate Francine was chosen after tutors described her as “a fantastic example of how dedication, a desire to learn and resilience can help overcome barriers to achieve great results.” She is now working as a Lecturer in Hairdressing at Riverside College.

Engineering graduate Tom was selected for the award after he “demonstrated a clear work ethic and devotion to his studies” during his time on the course. He has recently been appointed to a new role with more responsibility at ShearFab Limited in Widnes where he works alongside the Company Director as an Assistant Engineer.
