Makeup Motivation from Celebrity Star
Riverside College was thrilled to welcome BBC Glow Up finalist Leigh Easthope, to deliver an inspirational workshop with Media Makeup students.
Leigh appeared on the very first series of the new hit show and after demonstrating his wide range of skills as a talented makeup artist and battling against stiff competition, he found himself in the final three contestants.
Leigh began his workshop at the College with a Q&A session, where he explained his experiences of working in the makeup industry and the day to day tasks he overcame while on the show.
For Media Makeup students at the College, the workshop was a fantastic opportunity to take inspiration from Leigh’s hard work and determination which makes him a success today. It was also a chance to work to brief within a strict time limit, develop new and existing skills to a higher standard from the expert feedback Leigh provided and use the experience to put towards their final assessment.
Multi Award Winning Face & Body Painter Kate Monroe Groves also joined Leigh during his workshop to take photographs of the work completed by the students throughout the day. Kate commented, “It is wonderful to see how inspired the students are and how differently they interpret the given brief. The standard across the room is so strong for the varying levels of experience. The students clearly have a passion for their work!”
Leigh said, “The creativity in the room was so inspiring for me and it’s great to see so many people wanting to get into the makeup industry! I loved how everyone was so positive taking on board feedback and I think they can all go so far.”
Media Makeup Tutor at Riverside College Amy Kane said, “The students engaged so positively with Leigh and picking up valuable expert tips from such a high profiled makeup artist will benefit them massively! We hope we can work with Leigh again in the future.”
