James Rule Vikings Chief Executive commented on Riverside College’s sponsorship of the 2016 shirt: “Both Riverside College and Widnes Vikings place a huge amount of importance on creating opportunities for young people to succeed in our community. It is fantastic that our players will take to the field wearing the Riverside College brand next season. Education is a real focus for us in 2016. We hope our association with the College both on and off the field will inspire future generations to work hard with their education to fulfil their potential.”
Riverside College Principal, Mary Murphy said, “We are delighted and proud to sponsor the Widnes Vikings shirts for the 2016 season. We are looking forward to a highly successful year working in partnership with the Club to provide an excellent learning environment for young people who wish to be part of the Viking Learning Centre.”

The Vikings Learning Centre will offer a variety of accredited and non-accredited qualifications for local people. Young people aged 16 – 18 are now invited to register their interest for the Level 1 Sports Study Programme which will start when the Learning Centre opens on Monday 19th October 2015.
The course will be delivered three days a week by Vikings staff at the Club’s home ground, the Select Security Stadium. The programme will complete in June 2016 with learners then able to progress into further education, apprenticeships, or employment.
Students will study for their NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Sport and NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Employability Skills alongside a regular programme of functional skills in English and Mathematics.
