Riverside College in Pole Position

Hundreds of school leavers and prospective students flocked to Riverside College last week for another fantastic Open Evening. The event gave visitors a chance to see all of the amazing courses and facilities the College has to offer.

The Open Evening also gave the College an opportunity to show off a new addition to the motor vehicle workshops with the unveiling of an impressive Formula 1 sports car. The car will offer practical hands on experience to students who enrol on the brand new Level 3 Extended Diploma in Motorsport in September.

The course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to either progress onto university to study a degree in motorsport or enter employment within the motor vehicle industry as a race technician. By combining technical and workshop activities focusing on diagnostic techniques using up to date test rigs and equipment, the students will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in testing, designing and building, race and rally cars.

Students on the course will also join the College’s highly trained race team and will support the race fleet at various events.
