The under 13 boys age group was won by Saints Peter & Paul Catholic College, they had Matthew McCarthy, Frankie Carson, Jack Clemson and Lewis Talbot in their team and they defeated last year’s winners in the final.
Wade Deacon High had double success after winning both the under16 boys with Liam Beamish, Andrew Lawler, Henry Wilde, Owen Webb and the under 16 girls with Robyn Cosgrove, Alex Bowman, Amy Redman, Yasmin Leather.
To add to the success of the Widnes students the Under-19 boy’s category was won by the Riverside College team of Tom Ray, Jordan McGarry, Lewis Eccleston and Michael Johnson.
More than 100 pupils from various schools across Cheshire, Halton and Warrington took part in the tournament and because of the success of the local students in the different age groups Widnes will be fully represented at the regional table tennis competition which takes place in January.
Joe Clements, Enrichment Officer at Riverside College said, “I am really pleased for the Riverside team, they all played extremely well and deserve to have won. The team can now get lots of practice in the new enrichment centre at Riverside to help them in the regional competition.”
