TV Star Katie Crompton to Open Hairdressing Salon in Frodsham
29th May 2014
Star of BBC Three show ‘Hair’ and Riverside College student, Katie Crompton, has partnered up with fellow student Annmarie Heckingbottom to launch a new ‘one stop shop’ hair and beauty salon in Frodsham.
The salon, named Cherry Bomb, will cater for all occasions and aims to offer a wide range of treatments including hair, nails, waxing, spray tans, extensions and makeup.
Interest in Katie has soared since her appearance on the hit BBC Three show in which her exceptional talents earned her a place in the finals, finishing as runner up. Together, their goal is to create a company brand and launch salons in city centre locations in the future. The girls, both 31, plan to enter hair and beauty competitions across the country to raise awareness and promote the salon.
Both girls have hair and beauty qualifications and will be taking an active role at the salon. Katie plans to utilise her creative talents demonstrated on TV and is hoping her recent fame will attract customers.
The childhood friends both attended Helsby High School but lost contact when Annmarie went to study A-levels before working abroad in South Africa. Katie went on to study fashion design at University and worked for companies including Reebok. By a stroke of fate, the girls were reunited after both deciding to enrol on the Hairdressing course at Riverside College.
Regarding the launch, Katie said “We want to create a salon that is friendly and approachable so everyone feels welcome. We envisage a salon where people can get all their treatments done under one roof – a one stop shop.”
The tutors at Riverside have really helped me progress; they look at your strong points and push you to be the best you can; they are very supportive.”
Annmarie added “If anyone is thinking of returning to college to get a qualification they have always wanted they should just do it! The course has meant we could create and take opportunities to build a career. Riverside have been really supportive with us both having children, the timetables are manageable and have enabled us to juggle family time with studies. Enrolling could give you a new lease of life.”
The new salon will be opening on Saturday 31st May. There will be a family event from 12pm till 3pm and an evening event at 6pm till 9pm which will feature free consultations and hairstyle demonstrations from Katie (including famous styles featured on the BBC show such as ‘The Birdcage’ and ‘The Mad Hatter’). Appointments made on the day will include entry into a draw to win a set of designer styling straighteners.
