Childcare students get into the Christmas spirit with the help of Simms Cross Primary School.
Children from the reception class and year six at Simms Cross Primary School sang songs from their Christmas nativity to the open the annual Childcare Student Awards at Riverside College last week.
The pupils from Simms Cross came to the Centre Stage Theatre at the College on Friday and treated the staff and students to a fantastic festive performance which was followed by a surprise visit from Santa.
The students studying on the Childcare courses at the College were then presented with awards celebrating their success in the classroom and on placements in the community.
Student of the Term awards were presented to Amy Norton, Katie Davaney, Jessica Arrowsmith and Beth Arnold. Placement awards went to Georgie Frankling, Sophie Earnshaw and Georgie Hurst. Kirstie Locke was presented with the most improved award and the award for Outstanding Commitment went to Susannah Pendlebury.
Denise Harris, Childcare tutor at Riverside College said, “I would like to thank all of the fabulous students from Simms Cross for their fantastic performance at the awards ceremony. The event is a great opportunity to recognise and celebrate the student’s achievements so far and also acknowledges their hard work and commitment to their courses”.
