Weldability Sif sponsor a new engineering suite at Riverside College
On Wednesday 12th December representatives from Weldability Sif visited Riverside College to officially open the new welder training facility at the college.
Weldability Sif, a UK based welding products supplier, have sponsored the new engineering suite in 16 colleges across the country as part of a strategy to proactively encourage the development of new welder training facilities across the UK.
The new dedicated welding classroom and workshop with fully equipped welding bays at Riverside College was opened by Jennie Hawkins, Weldability-Sif Foundation Director and Trustee along with Anna Dawe, Vice Principal at the College last week and it will provide enhanced opportunities for engineering students at the College.
Jennie said, “Welding plays an important role in manufacturing and is used in a multitude of different industries including furniture production, shipbuilding, automotive manufacturing, as well as energy and UK infrastructure industries. Welding plays an active part in keeping it all together and foundation level welder skills training at Riverside College is another step towards a full apprenticeship programme designed to meet demand and overcome the current skills gaps in the UK welding industry.”
Anna Dawe, Vice Principal at Riverside College, Widnes & Runcorn said: “The Weldability Sif studio gives our offer an industry badge and ensures that the provision meets employment standards. This new facility enhances the learners experience beyond measure.”
