Entry Requirements:
This is a Level 2 course. Applicants must:
- Be working at or above Level 1 in English on the college assessment or
- Hold a minimum GCSE Grade 2 English Language qualification
All applicants will be required to attend a college admissions interview. As this course involves working closely with clients, good communication and people skills are essential.
What will I learn on this course?
You’ll develop the skills and techniques to create stunning make up looks for daytime, evening, and special occasions (including bridal makeup), while learning how to tailor your work for different skin tones, skin types, conditions, and age groups. This ensures you can confidently meet the needs of a wide range of clients—an essential skill in today’s diverse and fast paced industry.
How will I learn and be assessed?
You will develop your practical skills through tutor-led demonstrations, followed by hands-on practice in our industry-standard salons. Assessment methods include ongoing practical observations of salon treatments, assignments and tests to assess theoretical knowledge and you will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence, including client-based evidence.

You may be required to attend an assessment day or evening if selected by the awarding body or external verifier. Failure to attend could result in your certificate being withheld until verification has taken place.
Progression Opportunities/What can this course lead on to?
This qualification also provides a strong platform for further study. Learners may choose to progress onto additional full time or part time courses offered by the college, including photographic makeup, hairdressing, beauty therapy, or nail services qualifications or to work in a range of professional settings, or through self-employed and freelance practice.

The course requires a College Peaches and Cream makeup kit £150.00, and a Tunic top £25.00. You must also wear full length black trousers and a full black shoe. You will have to provide files etc. for your course work. Full details will be provided on enrolment to the course.

Facilities:
At the Centre of Excellence for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy we have recently refurbished contemporary facilities, including three hairdressing salons, two beauty therapy treatment rooms, a nail studio and two media make up studios. This provides students with the opportunity to run their own salons and showcase their skills to the public.
