What is this course about?
The course will cover a detailed understanding of the following subjects: Safe working practices, Information relating to quantities, Communication with others, piers, attached piers, solid walling and cavity walling. You will complete a numbers of practical projects and assessments. There are also end of unit assessments which are completed online. The practical projects you will complete as part of the training and assessment will prepare you for real life work situations and give you the opportunity to take part in national competitions.

Our new purpose built workshops at the Kingsway Campus has been developed to accommodate all of the necessary facilities and equipment you could hope for to achieve the best results. Our team of lecturers and assessors are experienced in all types of Construction and have a wealth of knowledge to pass on to our learners. As part of your studies it is expected that you will undertake some work experience in the community and this will add to your experience of work situations.
4 GCSE grades at grade 9-3 including maths and English or successful completion of a Level 1 Diploma In Bricklaying.
If you are an adult wishing to study this course and you don’t meet the entry requirements you may be able to complete an English and/or maths assessment at your interview.
What will this course lead on to?
The successful completion of the brickwork course could lead to a Level 3 Diploma or possible apprenticeship programme. During the course all learners will be expected to gain between 45-60 days’ work experience in order to make the transition to the workplace as smooth as possible.
The College has a full enrichment programme and all learners are expected to make the most of their time with us, why not enjoy your free time with your tutor group. New enrichment activities include; sport tournaments, table tennis, X-Box competitions, remote control model racing and mini caravan building.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is carried out at the end of each unit through an online multiple choice test. There is also practical assessments undertaken throughout the year which are graded Pass, Merit, or Distinction.
Are there any costs associated with this course?
Each learner will require Overalls, safety boots, Riverside College polo shirt, writing equipment, arch lever folder.
