In March 2024, Riverside College officially opened the new state-of-the-art Hydrogen Training Centre; a cutting-edge facility that underscores the college’s dedication to advancing green energy initiatives.
This innovative facility marks the introduction of new green energy courses designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary for a seamless transition into the industry and to support employers with upskilling their existing staff with new skill sets specific to the development of green growth.

Thanks to the support from the Department of Education’s Strategic Development Fund, alongside industry leaders such as Cadent, United Living, InterGen, Jet Engineering, and local advanced manufacturing firms, the project was unveiled at a VIP ceremony that marked the end of Hydrogen Week 2024.

Hydrogen is recognised as playing a valuable role in delivering low carbon heating and power for UK buildings and industrial processes. The Liverpool City Region is ideally positioned to take full advantage of the new skilled jobs within the sector.
