McLaren Director inspires Riverside students
Alan Foster, the Operations Director at McLaren came to Riverside College last week to speak to students about his career and helped to judge an internal student competition.
Alan, who spoke to engineering and motor vehicle students at the College about how he managed to work his way up to the senior role of Operations Director at McLaren, helped to inspire and motivate all of the students after they realised that he had also completed a course at the College early on in his career.
He gave the students advice and answered all of their questions during the morning and then went on to judge a competition were teams of students had constructed part of a car engine. The winning team then accompanied Alan to lunch in the College restaurant.
Mike Morson, Head of Engineering and Construction at Riverside College said, “This was a fabulous opportunity for the students to be inspired by someone like Alan Foster, who has worked his way up to the top of his industry with Mclaren.
“His story captivated all of the students, who realised that they themselves could aspire to achieve a great career.
They could all relate to his story, especially when he told them that he had completed a course in Advanced Fluid Dynamics at Riverside College at night school, a course that we will be offering again within our new HNC in Mechanical Engineering starting this September.”
