Students Wow Audience at Annual Hair & Media Makeup Showcase
Hair and Media Makeup students at Riverside College once again put their incredible talents on display at the annual Hair and Media Makeup Showcase, an evening of wonderful fashion, hairstyles and makeup.
The sensational clothing on display was modelled by students and guests, and provided by retail giant New Look, tying in with the launch of their new Spring/Summer 2015 collection.
The evening is designed to promote the hair and media departments of the College while developing student skills and industry prospects. The event also aims to raise money for the Mayor of Halton’s charities; Nightstop Communities North West, The Lilac Centre and Halton Carers’ Centre. Through ticket sales and a raffle, a fantastic total of £400.00 was raised for the Mayor’s charities.
VIP guests were treated to hospitality from catering staff and students, which included a meal at the College’s Scholars Restaurant prior to the event.
Talented musician and songwriter Katie Sutton-Wilson, who attends Culcheth High School, was invited to sing and play guitar during the event, and wowed audience members with songs which included her own written tracks.
Suzanne McGucken, event organiser and hairdressing tutor at Riverside College, said, “The standard of work this year has been incredible; the models looked fantastic and everybody involved has worked very hard to make the event special.
“I am very proud of all the students and staff who took part and would like to thank New Look for providing the wonderful outfits on display. We are looking forward to next year’s event!”
Halton Mayor, Councillor Shaun Osborne, said “I can’t thank the college, staff and students enough for what has been done here tonight; it’s been a fabulous, professional performance. Suzanne has been absolutely fabulous; she is dedicated to organising this event and raising funds for charity each year.”
