Course Overview/What is this course about?
This programme is designed to give you the skills and knowledge required to learn the essential techniques required in make artistry. You will work in our college makeup studios developing your skills in makeup skills. You will have the opportunity to bring in clients to try out different makeup looks.

Entry Requirements:
A good standard of English is required. You may be required to complete a short English assessment or have a GCSE English at grade 2 or above. Makeup artistry is a personal service; people skills are also important .
What will I learn on this course?
This course includes the skills and knowledge of:
- Skincare and skin analysis
- Matching foundations and corrective makeup
- Day and natural makeup
- Evening and glamour looks
- Introduction to fashion looks
- Knowledge of the makeup industry and career pathways
How will I learn and be assessed?
You will be assessed by ongoing assessments throughout the programme, tests may be required to complete units and check knowledge, also you will have to complete projects and produce a portfolio of your work .
Please note:
You may be required to attend an assessment day or evening if selected by the awarding body or external verifier. Failure to attend could result in your certificate being withheld until verification has taken place.
Progression Opportunities/What can this course lead on to?
Progression onto the part-time cosmetic makeup course, or you may wish to specialise in beauty, nails, barbering or hairdressing.

The course requires a full media makeup kit (approx. £150) and a tunic (approx. £25.00). You must also wear full length black trousers and a full black shoe. You will have to provide files etc. for your course work and photographic evidence is required for practical assessments.
Facilities:
At the Centre of Excellence for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy we have recently refurbished contemporary facilities, including three hairdressing salons, two beauty therapy treatment rooms, a nail studio and two media make up studios. This provides students with the opportunity to run their own salons and showcase their skills to the public.
