Engineers of Tomorrow Inspired at Jaguar Land Rover
On Monday 18th of May, Engineering BTEC and Performing Engineering Operations students at Riverside College had the exciting opportunity to visit the Jaguar Land Rover manufacturing plant in Halewood, home to the Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport vehicles.
The students were given a guided tour of the production facilities which covers all stages of the assembly process, including the sheet metal press, robotic body construction and final preparations before the customer-ready end product is delivered. Students then discussed the manufacturing process and facilities with members of the Jaguar Land Rover educational team, gaining expert industry knowledge.
The students also had the opportunity to explore the media centre and have their photos taken in front of a Special Edition Range Rover Evoque. The vehicle is the last of 200 and was designed by former Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham.
Martin Stone, Engineering tutor, said, “The visit has been a fantastic opportunity for our students, they have been able to experience future career opportunities and witness the latest manufacturing technologies at a global company first hand.”
