What is this course about?
This part time course has been specifically designed for those wishing to pursue a career as a nail technician or anyone who wishes to gain practical skills as a leisure pursuit. In the first stage of the nail technician course, you will develop practical skills in both manicure and pedicure procedures. through demonstrations and practical experience working on clients in the industry standard college nail room. Your practical skill is combined with the study of anatomy and physiology and customer care. This course is a mandatory requirement to progress to the Stage 2 course (unless you already hold a relevant nail services qualification).

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed throughout your course by practical observation and your theoretical understanding will be assessed through the completion of an assignment/tests. You will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence which may include photographic evidence.
*Please note: You may be required to attend an assessment day/evening if you are selected by the awarding body, external verifier – failure to attend could lead to your certificate being withheld until you are seen be the external verifier
Entry Requirements:
Working at Entry Level 3 in English on our college assessment or a minimum GCSE grade E/2 or Entry Level 3 English qualification (including reading and writing). To progress to the level 2 qualification, you must be working at level 1 on our college assessment or GCSE grade D/3 or Level 1 English qualification (including reading and writing).
Are there any costs associated with this course?
You will be required to purchase a professional college nail kit (costs to be confirmed) You will need a college black tunic, approx. cost: £25.00 (costs subject to change for 2023), black trousers, and black low-heeled shoes. You will have to provide a lever arch file etc. for your course work and photographic evidence is required for practical assessments.
