What is this course about?
This course looks at the most exciting and everchanging world of hairdressing. You will be introduced to a variety of hairdressing treatments and will get the opportunity to practice your hairdressing techniques in the college industry salons.

Entry Requirements
Working at Entry Level 3 in English on our college assessment or minimum GCSE grade E/2 or Entry Level qualification in English (including reading and writing). Hairdressing is a personal service; people skills are also important. Progression to the stage 2 or level 2 qualification would require working at level 1 in English on our college assessment.
What will this course lead on to?
Progression on to Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing, work in a salon or self-employment.
What will I learn on this course?
Within this course you will learn – shampoo and conditioning hair, blow drying, styling/dressing hair, plaiting hair, basic cutting and colouring techniques, also you will learn how to create a hair and beauty image. You will also learn the theory of hairdressing alongside your practical sessions.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by on-going practical assessments throughout the programme, tests may be required to complete units and check knowledge, also you will have to complete projects and produce a portfolio of your work.

This course can be paid in instalments
The course requires a full kit (please enquire – there is a payment scheme available), and a Tunic top (approx £25 plus postage and packing) – costs TBC). You must also wear full length black trousers and a full black shoe. You will have to provide files etc. for your course work. Full details will be provided on enrolment to the course.

Facilities:
At the Centre of Excellence for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy we have recently refurbished contemporary facilities, including three hairdressing salons, two beauty salons, a nail studio and two media make up studios. This provides students with the opportunity to run their own salons and showcase their skills to the public.
