What is this course about?
This part time evening programme is designed to give you the skills and knowledge required for barbering. You will work in our College salons developing your skills in men’s cutting and styling techniques. The practical aspect of this course will run one evening a week and you will be expected to attend an extra evening once a month for the theory required.

Entry Requirements
Stage 1 Award in Men’s Hairstyling or Barbering and working at Level 1 English on our college assessment or evidence of an equivalent English qualification (including reading and writing). Barbering is a personal service, people skills and personal presentation is also important.
What will this course lead on to?
Progression onto a qualification in women’s hairdressing or a level 3 barbering qualification, employment in a barbers of hairdressing salon or self-employment.
What will I learn on this course?
Working in the hairdressing industry , client consultation, shampooing and conditioning treatments for the hair and scalp, Cutting men’s hair, cutting facial hair , men’s styling techniques, colouring techniques, health and safety
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by ongoing assessments throughout the programme, tests may be required to complete units and check knowledge, also you will have to complete projects and produce a portfolio of your work.

Are there any extra costs relating to this course?
CK DIRECT KIT ( if not already purchased) TBC. Tunic( if required) TBC, you must also wear full length black trousers and a full black shoe. You will have to provide files etc. for your course work and photographic evidence is required for practical assessments.
We will advise you about where and when to purchase your kit when we call you to enrol on the course.
Facilities:
At the Centre of Excellence for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy we have recently refurbished contemporary facilities, including four hairdressing salons, four beauty salons, a media make up studio and a nail salon. This provides students with the opportunity to run their own salons and showcase their skills to the public.
