What is this course about?
The course will cover a detailed understanding of the following topics:
- Safe Working Practices
- Information, Quantities and Communication with Others
- Building Methods and Construction
- Roofing & Flooring
- Stairs & Kitchens
- Skirting boards, architraves
Door frames, Doors, windows
As part of the course you will produce several pieces of practical work to be assessed that will demonstrate your ability and allow you to progress.

Our team of lecturers and assessors are experienced in all types of Carpentry & Joinery and have a wealth of knowledge to pass on to our learners. As part of your studies it is expected that you will undertake some work experience in the community and this will add to your experience of work situations.
During the course the opportunity to complete projects out on site will arise, this gives you the additional skills of gaining real life work experience to prepare you for the workplace.
4 GCSEs Grade 9—3, including English language and maths.
19+ If you are an adult wishing to study this course and you don’t meet the entry requirements you may be able to complete an English and/or maths assessment at your interview.
Are there any costs associated with this course?
Each learner will require a College T-shirt, Overall pants, safety boots, writing equipment and a ring binder with note paper.

What will this course lead on to?
The successful completion of this course could lead to a Level 3 Carpentry and Joinery Diploma or possible apprenticeship programme. During the course all learners are encouraged to gain work experience in order to make the transition to the workplace as smooth as possible.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is carried out on all practical tasks throughout the year. At the end of the course each learner has to show the knowledge they have gained through an end of year exam in order to achieve the full qualification.
