Hard Work Meets Opportunity: Jolene Secures Her Place in Paramedic Science
At Riverside College, we are proud to celebrate the achievements of our students who demonstrate exceptional commitment, determination, and passion for their future careers. One such student is Jolene Campbell, a Level 3 Health & Social Care learner whose unique pathway and dedication has led to a fantastic offer to study BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science at university.
Over the past two years, Jolene has devoted her time to volunteering with paramedics as a first responder, gaining invaluable hands‑on experience that is rarely accessible to learners before entering a professional programme. Her dedication paid off recently when she completed her first supervised response shift with the ambulance service, attending real emergencies alongside her crew.
Jolene began her journey at Riverside on the Level 2 Health & Social Care programme. Through hard work and persistence, alongside her course she resat her Maths and successfully achieved a grade 4, a crucial requirement for progressing into many health‑related university programmes.
Her commitment, passion, and willingness to go above and beyond have led to securing a conditional offer to study the highly competitive BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science degree, beginning this September.
Jolene’s story is a testament to what is possible when hard work meets opportunity. Her teachers have praised her determination, describing her pathway as genuinely unique due to the voluntary experience she has independently sought out and successfully gained.
We look forward to celebrating Jolene’s results and following her continued journey into paramedic science. Her success reflects the heart of what Riverside strives to provide; opportunities for students to grow, achieve, and pursue their ambitions, no matter where they begin.
