Students Nail Construction Training
Construction students at Riverside College have enjoyed the career enhancing opportunity to take part in a training session with the latest technology from Paslode, the world leaders in nailing tools.
The training course usually comes with a fee, but due to Riverside College’s strong relationships with market leaders in the industry such as Paslode, the students were each able to receive the training for free.
Craig Bailey, Paslode Product Trainer for the North, provided the session. Craig explained to the students how to use nailing tools correctly, and health and safety precautions. The students were then able to use the equipment for themselves.
Upon completion of the session, each student received a certificate and license card to use and maintain nailing tools on building sites. The card lasts for 2 years and is now a requirement for all construction workers using the equipment, which gives the students great new work opportunities.
Craig Bailey, Product Trainer for the North, said “I was pleasantly surprised how well behaved all the students were whilst I was doing the demonstrations, some really good questions were asked and I hope they all took something from the morning. The students provided really good feedback about the session.
“For me that’s what I love about my job is that I’m knowingly helping the next generation of skilled workers come into the industry. The team have got a really good setup and I hope I’ll be returning in the future.”
John Wardropper, Construction Tutor at Riverside College, said “We contacted Paslode as they are the world leader in nailing tools. This training is paramount for our students in the industry, the training received was first class and every student was fully engaged while enjoying the session.”
