The Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts has been developed through the recruitment of some of the best teaching staff in the country, investment in state of the art facilities and the expansion of our extracurricular activities that support applications to some of the country’s most prestigious institutions.

Students at the Centre of Excellence benefit from unique opportunities to perform in local, national and international venues through our links with prestigious conservatoires and performance schools, our high profile patrons which include West End and Broadway stars and our partnerships with prestigious performance institutions including LIPA.

More than just a course

Last year students at the Centre of Excellence performed in front of over 4,000 people in a range of industry standard shows including Sleeping Beauty, Les Miserables and Jane Eyre the musical.

Students have also showcased their talents in venues including the famous Cavern, Parr Street Studios and the Brindley Theatre.

Entry Requirements

Professional Dance Programme, Acting and Performance

Level 3
A minimum of 5 A*- C GCSE subject grades, including English Language. You will also need to successfully pass an audition which will be arranged following an initial admissions interview.
Level 2
A minimum of 4 A* – D GCSE subject grades or equivalent, including English Language.
You will also need to successfully pass an audition which will be arranged following an initial admissions interview.
Level 1
A minimum of 4 A* – E GCSE subject grades or equivalent, including English Language.
You will also need to successfully pass an audition which will be arranged following an initial admissions interview.
 

Professional Music Practice and Rock and Pop Music

Level 3
A minimum of 5 A*- C GCSE subject grades, including English Language. You must be able to play an instrument or sing competently. You will also need to successfully pass an audition which will be arranged following your admissions interview.
Level 2
A minimum of 4 A* – D GCSE subject grades or equivalent, including English Language.
You must be able to play an instrument or sing competently. You will also need to successfully pass an audition which will be arranged following your admissions interview.

You can progress through the levels from level 1 to level 3. By achieving qualifications in the performing arts you will be able to start your career in a wide range of careers including as a musician, actor, producer, choreographer, dancer, director, songwriter or teacher.

Following the Level 3 BTEC Diploma you can progress to some of the very best universities, conservatoires and performing arts institutions in the UK. Students have progressed to LIPA, The Arden and other prestigious degree courses.
