Throughout the College year we will support students with the following activities:
September:
New Students
All new students will enrol at Cronton and will start their course with a full induction programme. During this time, they will be introduced to the ACE Team along with the rest of the Programme Management Team who will support students throughout their time at Cronton.
Eligible students who wish to take part in the High Achievers Programme will also be introduced to the specialised High Achievers Programme (HAP) schedule of events and activities. This will include ACE support/ external and internal speakers & master classes specific to curriculum areas.
Year 2 Students
Students returning to College for their second year will be supported to complete their UCAS application forms to ensure they meet the deadlines. (Particularly the early deadlines for Oxbridge and Medical degrees).
There will also be group sessions and one-to-one support offered to students with informed advice and guidance on careers including further education, degree apprenticeships, and jobs.
The ACE Team works alongside the curriculum staff to offer subject-specific talks for students and industry visits to talk about Degree Apprenticeships.
October, November, and December:
Year 1 Students
A Level and Vocational students offered support to apply to a range of widening participation schemes to encourage entry to university. Schemes include Sutton Trust/Social Mobility/Pembroke North, Oxnet (University of Oxford), Cambridge Shadowing Scheme, and Liverpool Scholars. These programmes take place during the first year of College.
University and Careers event trips, visits, and talks.
Year 2 Students
Individualised support for HAP students who need to meet the early UCAS deadline of mid-October (Oxford/Cambridge/Med/Vet/Den).
Support for all students completing UCAS applications.
January:
Year 2 Students
Support to ensure all students who wish to apply to university have met the UCAS deadline.
February / March:
During these months we will have activities for National Apprenticeship Week and National Careers Week.
Year 1 Students
Group and individual support with the ACE Team if required, regarding progression into year 2 and post-college plans.
Trips to universities and the UCAS fair in Manchester.
Year 2 Students
Student finance support assembly/ tutorial support.
April and May:
Higher Education Week – Internal activities (University and Industry)
June, July and August:
Year 1 Students
HE Day with advice and support about researching and applying to university. UCAS registration with advice on preparation activities for over the summer. UCAS event for parents.
August and September
Year 2 Students
ACE team to provide information, advice and guidance for students who wish to change their choices or have not achieved entry requirements for their first choice University.
