Celebrity Hairdresser Lee Stafford opens Centre of Excellence at Riverside College.

On Thursday 9^th February 2012 Riverside College was host to celebrity Hairdresser, Lee Stafford who joined them to celebrate the launch of the College’s new Centre of Excellence in Hair and Beauty.

The cold and rain this week was not enough to dampen the highly glamorous event which took place in Riverside College’s Centre Stage theatre in Widnes.

The audience, which consisted of guests from local salons, VIP’s and students were presented with talks from the College Principal Michael Sheehan, Head of Hairdressing and Beauty Lyn Rhodes, Angela Vickery, the UK Regional Recruitment Manager of Steiner, Alan Bennett, Chair of Governors and a inspiring talk and hair demonstrations from Lee Stafford.

They were also treated to a fabulous catwalk show of sculpted hair and media makeup produced by the students.  This project will soon be transformed into a live exhibition at the World Museum in Liverpool.

Lee Stafford said, “The thing that struck me most was the energy and passion of the students and tutors.  The event was stylish and classy and the catwalk show was mind-blowing!  I believe that education is the backbone of our craft and without it we are jelly”

Angela Vickery, the UK Regional Recruitment Manager of Steiner who deals closely with the college to recruit students for work on cruise ships said, “I had a fantastic afternoon at the launch of the Centre of Excellence in Hairdressing and Beauty.  The event is something you would normally see at Colleges in the London area. It is fantastic to see students who are interested and motivated in what they are doing.  Steiner requires particular qualities from their employees and the students from Riverside College exceed these qualities and are consistently of a high standard.”

Lyn Rhodes, Head of the Centre of Excellence in Hairdressing and Beauty said, “The launch was a fantastic opportunity, not only to showcase our fantastic team of tutors and the work of our current and past students but it also gave students the chance to watch the demonstrations by Lee Stafford and  ask him questions”.

“The whole event was a great success and a fabulous platform to launch the Centre of Excellence in Hair and Beauty.  Riverside College has been awarded the Centre of Excellence status in recognition of the outstanding success it has achieved and its national reputation for exceptional standards in all areas of Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy, Complimentary Therapies and Media Make Up and we will continue to strive forward to give our students the best start in the Hair and Beauty industry.  We are now looking forward to the exhibition at the World Museum and the building of the new state of the art salons and spa”
