What is this course about?
The purpose of the AAT Diploma in Professional Accounting Technicians is to enhance the skills developed from the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting enabling you to maximise opportunities in your current or new employment.
This flexible course is delivered in partnership with Mindful Education and combines online learning with face-to-face lessons in the classroom, referred to as Online and On Campus.

Please note: The course starts on 14/09/26 or 15/09/26. Classroom attendance is weekly, every Monday 9.30am – 4.30pm or Tuesday 6pm to 9pm.
By studying for this qualification you will acquire professional accountancy and finance skills that will be useful throughout your careers including:
- Drafting financial statements for limited companies
- Knowledge and skills in complex management accounting techniques
- The ability to analyse accounting systems and their associated controls
- Knowledge and skills in specialist accountancy and finance subjects.
You can either study this course one full day or two evenings per week.
What will I learn?
In this qualification you will cover higher accounting tasks including drafting financial statements, managing budgets, personal and business tax calculations, audit, and business skills.
On successful completion of this course, you will be awarded the AAT Level 4 Diploma for Professional Accounting Technicians. This internationally recognised AAT qualification enables those working in accounting or those looking to pursue accountancy as a career to gain knowledge, practical experience and the all-important certification often sought by employers.

- Principles of Taxation
- Internal Controls and Audit
- Advanced Business Awareness.
Study method:
Online and On Campus We have partnered with Mindful Education to deliver this course through our flexible Online and On Campus model.
Online, you will study award-winning video lessons, which are available on demand, and can be viewed from your phone, tablet or computer – meaning you can choose how, when and where you want to study. Lessons are accompanied by animations and motion graphics to bring concepts to life. Practice questions, downloadable lesson materials and interactive case studies help to enhance the learning experience further.
Learners should expect to spend around 7-9 hours studying independently online each week.
On campus, you benefit from regular classes with a college tutor – without having to commit to attending multiple evenings each week. Your tutor will review what you have learnt during your online lessons and will be on hand to provide guidance on progress and assessment. Regular discussion with classmates will help to reinforce key points while also providing the additional support and motivation that comes from being part of a group.
Entry Requirements?
You must have successfully completed the AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting or an equivalent qualification. You must have achieved GCSEs at grade C or grade 4 or above or Level 2 equivalent qualification in English and maths.
Course fee: £2,573 (TBC for 2026)
If you are 19 or over and studying a level 3 qualification you may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan. These loans will cover the full course fee for the duration of your course.

This course can be paid in instalments.
In addition to the course fees you will also need to pay a Registration Fee directly to the AAT. This is currently £244 for level 4. (Payable once you have started the course).
How will I be assessed?
This course is assessed through computer-based exams for each unit.
What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?
Upon successful completion of this course, you will become a qualified Accounting Technician and can go on to secure employment at managerial or supervisory levels. This qualification will also lead to exemptions at ACCA and CIMA and the non-graduate route to chartered accountancy.
Completion of this qualification can lead to a wide variety of well-paid accountancy and finance jobs some of which include:
- Professional accounting technician

- Senior bookkeeper
- Senior finance officer
- Assistant financial accountant
- Cost accountant
