What is this course about?
The course has been developed to provide learners with a taste of various trades including Carpentry & Joinery, Brickwork and Painting & Decorating, Plumbing, Engineering and Motor Vehicle. The course mostly consists of practical work but also includes some theory-based work. This course will not only develop your practical skills but also various other skills in order to make you employable including Communication skills, teamwork skills & problem-solving skills.

Successful completion of the Entry to Occupational Studies course will provide an access to a level 1 construction or Engineering course.
What will I learn on this course?
Basic bricklaying skills, basic carpentry & joinery skills, basic painting & decorating skills, basic Plumbing skills, basic Engineering skills and basic Motor Vehicle maintenance skills.

You will be assessed through various methods including practical assessments, observations, and question booklets.
Are there any costs associated with this course?
You will be required to purchase a pair of safety boots, work trousers, two Riverside college polo shirts, writing paper and stationary equipment.
