What is this course about?
The NCFE CACHE Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to Health, Care and Children and Young People’s Settings will give you the opportunity to do lots of practical activities to help you to learn to care for adults, young people or children. It will also help you to develop your work and life skills whilst still learning how to care for children.
Why choose this course?
This one-year course is designed to help you develop knowledge, skills, and understanding of health, children and young people’s workforce, social care, and community work. The course will also enable you to develop personal learning skills. It is a broad course that will allow you to progress in Early Years or Health and Care.
Entry Requirements:
4 GCSEs at Grade 9 – 2 including English Language and Maths.
What will this course lead on to?
You may be able to progress onto either the Level 2 Early Years or Level 2 Health and Care.
What will I learn on this course?
The course will enable you to gain a basic understanding of the key areas in caring for adults, young people, and children. The course is in unit form and some topics include communication, healthy eating, range of service provision, children’s and young people’s development, and physical care of babies and young people.
Enrichment Opportunities:
Trips, visits, and guest speakers from the sector, developing creative skills, taking part in the college-wide enrichment programme, money raising for charities, and placement opportunities.

You will be assessed in a variety of methods including coursework
Are there any costs associated with this course?
Yes, students will be expected to wear a uniform in college and in placement; therefore, we have sky blue t-shirts and hoodies available to purchase at a cost of approximately £7.86 for the t-shirts and £15.54 for the hoodies and £17.94 for the zipped hoodies (costs can be subject to change).
Students will also be expected to complete a DBS, to enable them to attend placement – there is no cost for fully funded students on the course.
