What is this course about?
The course is designed as an introductory level that will teach the basic skills and processes required to pursue a career in Plumbing. Learners will gain an understanding of the processes undertaken to achieve industrial standards designed to allow you to progress onto higher levels of study.

What will I learn on this course?
The course will cover the following topics: An introduction to – Safe Working Practices, Information, Quantities and Communication with Others, Building Methods and Construction, Erect and Dismantle Working Platforms.
You will also prepare different materials for use in the plumbing process and be able to understand different types of plumbing systems and fittings. You will fit systems in a workshop setting and complete an assessment of pieces to show competence in each of the areas.
Entry Requirements?
4 GCSEs at grades 9 – 2 including English Language and Maths.
What will this course lead on to?
The successful completion of this course could lead to a level 2 qualification or possible apprenticeship programme. During the course you will be encouraged to gain work experience in order to make the transition into the workplace as smooth as possible and help build your confidence.

The College has a full enrichment programme and all learners are expected to make the most of their time with us, why not enjoy your free time with your tutor group. New enrichment activities include various sports tournaments, table tennis, X-Box competitions, remote control model racing. There will also be various trips and visits throughout the year.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is carried out on all practical tasks throughout the year. Each practical task will result in a pass/merit or distinction grade depending on the quality of your work produced. You will also be assessed through online and paper exams at the end of each theory unit.
Are there any costs associated with this course?
Each learner will be asked to purchase a Riverside College Hi Vis Polo shirt, Work trousers, safety boots, stationary equipment and a ring binder with note paper.
