Riverside College Achieves Apprenticeship Success
Riverside College in connection with Weston Point College are supporting students in Apprenticeships.
Riverside College Student Jay Brown sets a shining example, becoming the latest addition to the Staff Team at Weston Point College. To support him in his newly appointed position, Jay is completing his Level 2 Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools at Riverside College.
A former Weston Point College Student, Jay proved invaluable with his in-depth understanding of young people, bringing a new dynamic to the college, engaging with students and impressing staff. Weston Point College supports disengaged young people aged 11-18, assisting students with formal education, guiding and fostering engagement with qualifications. Head Teacher, Tim Whittle believes it is increasingly important to work with local providers stating, “Riverside College has gone out of its way to adapt to learner needs, Jay’s tutor is very supportive.”
Looking forward Jay aims to become a Youth Worker, mentoring and developing young people with educational behavioural difficulties and says undertaking an Apprenticeship is enabling him to increase his understanding of policies and procedures, knowledge of which are vital for role specific duties.
Riverside College offers Apprenticeships in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools levels 2 and 3, Children Young and Peoples Workforce Levels 2 and 3, as well as delivering Training in First Aid including Defibrillator training, Safe Guarding, Health and Safety, Manual Handling, Food Hygiene and many more.
