      The exciting and innovative courses in Health, Social Care, Nursing and Nursing Aesthetics at Riverside College provide students with invaluable experience in our brand new Clinical Practice Ward and Social Care Room.

      An integral part of these courses is the completion of a range of placements. At Riverside, students benefit from our innovative partnerships with the NHS and Community Integrated Care (CIC) which offers students a wide range of prestigious placements in settings including hospitals, mental health care settings, care homes, SEN schools and social work agencies.

      Students must have a clear DBS.

      Health and Life Sciences The local Healthcare sector employs over 100,000 people, with Liverpool being home to more specialist hospitals and health centres than any other UK city outside London.

      Clinical Practice Ward: a fully working ward including:

      • Adult and children’s hospital beds
      • Hospital hoists
      • Infection control equipment
      • Medical mannequins
      • Heart monitors. Social Care Room:
      • Specialist room with kitchen and equipment designed to help students gain skills to progress in occupational therapy and the care industry.

      Placements

      Gaining practical experience is vital in this industry and our courses provide students with exceptional opportunities through our extensive placement programme at Levels 1, 2 and 3. Students will undertake placements in a variety of settings depending on their chosen career path. Placements include settings such as hospitals, primary schools, mental health settings, dentists and social work agencies.

      Entry Requirements

      Level 3

      A minimum of five 9-4 GCSE subject grades, including English Language and Maths. Students must also have a clear DBS.

      Level 2

      A minimum of four 9-3 GCSE subject grades, including English Language and Maths. Students must also have a clear DBS.

      Level 1

      A minimum of four 9-2 GCSE subject grades, including English Language.


      What could these courses lead on to?

      By achieving qualifications in Health, Social Care and Nursing you will be choosing a career in the UK’s largest industry. You can progress into employment or apprenticeships in a wide range of fields including nursing, social work and teaching to name a few.

      Following the Level 3 you can progress to degrees in Adult & Children’s Nursing, Mental Health & Learning Disability Nursing, Social Care, Youth Work and Public Health as well as degrees in other allied health professions such as paramedics, radiography, operation department practitioner, midwifery, occupational therapy and podiatry etc.
