Details: Various day and evening options. Lessons are once per week and are 2.5 hours long. You will also have access to weekly conversation clubs (2 hours) and study hubs (2 hours).

What is this course about?
This course is about developing speaking, listening, reading & writing skills in English for people whose first language is not English.
What will I learn on this course?
You will learn practical communication skills in English as well as improving vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation skills covering a wide range of topic areas.

How will I be assessed?
All students will be expected to take an Edexcel ESOL exam when ready. There are three assessments: Reading, Writing and Speaking and Listening. You can take one, or all three depending on your ability.
What are the Entry Requirements?
An initial interview and assessment to assess speaking, listening, reading & writing skills.
What will this course lead on to?
Students can progress from Entry level 1 through to Level 2 over time.

The course is free if you have lived in the UK for 3 years or have an appropriate visa. You will need to meet a set of guidelines for the course to be free, if you do not meet the guidelines then a fee will apply – please enquire.
We do recommend that you buy a copy of the Functional Skills workbook at the appropriate level.
ESOL in the Community
Level: Entry 2 – Level 2 | Duration: 15 weeks | Start Date: September – Cohort 1 , January – Cohort 2
Details: All day Tuesday, 9:30am to 3pm. A 4 week cookery course is part of the course.
What is this course about?
This course focuses on improving your understanding and confidence using English in many different settings.
What will I learn on this course?
During the course you will;
- Complete a 4-week cookery course with a professional caterer and prepare many British dishes. Learning basic cooking skills and health hygiene.
- Learn more about British culture and history.
- Practice using everyday language such as slang.
- Develop your IT skills to prepare a final presentation.
- Take part in several onsite college activities and an offsite trip.
