What is this course about?
This daytime course is delivered over 2 – 3 days per week and is designed for students who have a passion for baking and wish to pursue a career within the bakery and confectionery industry as a pastry chef or baker. Classes will consist of both 16-18 and adult students.

Entry Requirements:
Working at Level 1 on our college online assessment or a minimum GCSE grade D/3 GCSE or Level 1 English qualification. You will also have a college admissions interview.
How will I be assessed?
During the programme you will be assessed in practical work, multiple choice questions and assignment work.
What will I learn on this course?
You will cover a range of modules including the preparation of desserts, biscuits, cakes, pastries, and sponges. Different types of bread and basic chocolate and confectionery skills. You will also complete modules in food safety, health and safety, and nutrition.
What will this course lead onto?
You can work in the catering industry as a baker or progress onto a higher-level bakery or confectionery course.

As part of your Catering and Hospitality programme you will purchase your uniform for the restaurant (approximately £95). Costs are subject to change for the 2024 courses.
