What is this course about?
This course is designed for those who wish to learn the art of Hairdressing. It may be your dream to be a celebrity stylist flying between Milan and New York, to build your own business or work in your local salon, whatever your direction Level 2 Hairdressing is the course that will prepare you for employment within this exciting industry by developing your creative skills in cutting, styling, plaiting and twisting long hair. You will also start to develop skills in colouring and perming. You will be able to work on clients and practice your techniques in our industry standard salons.

Level 1 English and Level 1 Hairdressing qualification is required for this course (previous experience within the hairdressing industry will be considered).
What will this course lead on to?
Progression onto the Level 3 Hairdressing qualification or employment as a junior stylist within a salon.
What will I learn on this course?
This course that consist of: Health & safety in the salon, Client consultation, Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp, promoting products and services to clients, Cutting techniques for long and short hair, barbering skills, and the art of dressing hair. You will also be introduced to basic hair colouring techniques. As part of this course you will also be required to work on English and Maths as this will increase your job opportunities or progression on to Higher Education.
A wide range of enrichment opportunities are available to you including Duke of Edinburgh Award, Driving Test Theory, workshops from major product manufactures, trips and visits to competition, events, hair & beauty fairs, opportunities to join the competition or artistic team, a wide range of industry workshops; e.g. ear piercing, creative colouring.
How will I be assessed?
You will be carrying out assessments throughout the year in preparation for your end of year practical assessment. You will also be assessed on your theory knowledge throughout the year, which will help prepare you for your final written test at the end of your course.

This course can be paid in instalments.
The course requires a full kit (costs for the level kit are still to be confirmed for 2020) and a tunic (approximately £25.00 plus postage and packing), you must also wear full length black trousers and a full black shoe. You will have to provide files etc. for your course work and photographic evidence is required for practical assessments.
At the Centre of Excellence for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy we have recently refurbished contemporary facilities, including three hairdressing salons, three beauty salons, two media make up studios and a nail studio. This provides students with the opportunity to run their own salons and showcase their skills to the public.
